Dear Parents,
We are well into the school year. Students and teacher are adjusting to all the new schedules.
Thank you all for coming to Back to School Night. It was good to see so many of you.
Here is what we will be working on for the next couple of weeks:
In Religion, we are working on the Beatitudes.
In Reading, we are currently doing a unit on Journeys. This week we will be talking and reading about immigrants who journeyed to a new land. Next week, we will be reading about the finding of the Titanic and the story of how the ship sank. We will also be discussing other mysteries that have never been solved like the disappearance of Amelia Earhart.
In Spelling, there is a word list each week. It is taped into their planner on Monday. Your children can always study their spelling words.
In Math, we have been working with place value and the number system. There is a test on Wednesday, September 5th. I always tell the students that if they understand what we have been working on in class, then they are ready for the Math test. We will review on Tuesday. After the test we will be reviewing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
In Social Studies, we are working with maps and regions of the US.
In Science, we are reviewing the Scientific Method and working with Science skills like classifying and observing.
Reminders:
The 4th grade has Mass on Friday, September 7th. If you are not busy, we invite you to join us. School pictures are next Monday, September 10th.
